Causes:
- Bacteria, parasites, viruses (including norovirus)
- Food poisoning e.g. from food that has been improperly stored
- Consumption of irritating food, drink or medication
- Pregnancy
- Overeating or overdrinking (specially alcohol)
- Stress and feet
- Taking antibiotics recently
Symptoms:
Symptoms may include intestinal hurting, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. People may feel very sick and vomit many times a day. Most people ameliorate within three days. Transmission:
Norovirus, a common cause of infectious outbreaks, can easily spread from person to person. People are contagious from the moment they begin to feel ill until at least three days afterwards recovery. Specific ways of transmission are:

If diarrhea is the only symptom, try Imodium, a non-prescription (over-the-counter) medication available at the UHS Chemist's according to packet directions. Follow a banal diet (see 4 above). When to call for medical communication:

- Are unable to have medications that you unremarkably take

Prevention:
- Wash hands ofttimes with lather and water and launder for at least 15 seconds, especially after toilet visits and before eating.
